General ProjectFAQs
Do I need an assessment before receiving a quote?
Yes. An assessment allows our craftsman to see the project firsthand, take measurements and photographs, discuss your concerns and goals, and determine the appropriate solution before preparing your quote.
What happens during an assessment?
Your OJB craftsman will evaluate the project, take necessary measurements and photographs, listen to your concerns, discuss what you would like to accomplish, and gather the information needed to develop the appropriate scope of work and quote.
Do all homeowners or decision makers need to be present?
We ask that all decision makers be present for the assessment & quote presentation whenever possible. This allows us to understand everyone's goals, address questions at the same time, and provide an efficient quote and approval process.
Do you provide the materials for projects?
When materials are included in the OJB scope of work, our team handles sourcing, ordering, receiving, and verifying those materials before the project is scheduled. Certain projects may include customer-supplied fixtures or materials when specifically identified in the quote.
Can Odd Job Bob install customer-supplied fixtures or products?
Yes, depending on the product and project. Customer-supplied fixtures and materials must be appropriate for the intended installation and compatible with the existing conditions. The specific installation requirements will be addressed during the assessment.
Does Odd Job Bob install used materials or fixtures?
We do not recommend installing used materials or components when OJB is expected to stand behind the completed project. Used products can have unknown installation history, wear, damage, missing components, or other conditions that prevent us from confidently warranting the finished installation.
Are there services Odd Job Bob does not provide?
Yes. OJB offers a wide range of residential & commercial repair, maintenance, and improvement services, but there are some projects that fall outside our scope. In many cases, while we may not perform the larger project, we can still help with smaller repairs or improvements related to it.
Major Foundation Repair — Structural foundation repair is outside our scope.
Roof Repair or Installation — We do not perform roofing work.
Full Gutter Installation — We do not install complete gutter systems, but we can help with downspout replacement and repair.
Masonry, Asphalt, or Concrete Work — Masonry and concrete projects are outside our standard scope.
Large-Scale Fence Installation or Fence Repair — We do not install or rebuild complete fencing systems, but we can help with smaller adjustments and repairs to components such as gates and latches.
Landscaping — Landscaping and similar outdoor property services are outside our scope.
Power Washing — We do not provide standalone power-washing services.
HVAC Work — Heating and cooling system installation, repair, and maintenance are outside our scope.
Wood or Gas Fireplace Installation, Repair, or Maintenance — We do not service or install wood-burning or gas fireplaces. We can install new electric fireplaces.
Window Installation — Full window replacement and installation are outside our scope. We can help with certain window repairs and adjustments.
Carpet Installation — We do not install carpet. OJB does install several other flooring products.
Appliance Repair — We do not diagnose or repair appliances themselves. We can install certain new appliances when the installation falls within our service capabilities.
Moving Services — OJB does not provide moving or relocation services, including moving furniture, appliances, storage items, boxes, or other household belongings from one location to another.
Furniture, Shed, or Boxed-Item Assembly — We do not provide assembly services for furniture, sheds, or other products supplied as boxed assembly kits.
Software, Wi-Fi, or Account Setup and Troubleshooting — Our services focus on the physical installation, repair, maintenance, and improvement of your home rather than technology support.
